Age: 26, U.S.A.

What are your climbing goals?
Right now I have my sights set on a free accent of Moonlight Buttress in Zion National Park. I have a few projects scattered around as well like a high ball boulder in Acadia National Park but the buttress is #1. I will be heading back to Maine in the next few weeks to continue learning more knots and proper pro placement.

Most memorable climbing experience?
I think my most memorable climbing experience would be recently when I red pointed a route called “A Dare By The Sea.” The route is in Acadia as well and is hands down a world class climb! It follows a crack feature up the cliff wall at Otter Cliffs right on the ocean. It stands out in my mind because Acadia is where I was formally re-introduced to climbing outdoors again after I had let it slip from my childhoods grasp. A Dare By The Sea became a project of mine and after a winter of training back in Ohio I sent it no problem just a couple weeks ago.

What do you like most about MyClimb?
MyClimb makes it very easy to track your progress and look back and see where you were a while back. I really am enjoying what the MyClimb team has created and with every new improvement building on the last I know these guys are onto something great. With the climbing community already pretty small it’s great to see an app bringing that community all around the world much much closer together… and that’s just wonderful. How many times have you desperately tried to find a partner and end up at the bouldering cave instead because you couldn’t find anyone. This app is changing that.

What do you enjoy most about climbing?
Climbing is this extremely diverse sport where we see kids as young as 13 climbing V14 right along side the pros. It’s a sport where we see women crushing routes that some men can’t even touch and vice versa. Climbing comes in many different styles and types and that leaves a little something open to just about everyone. Even age is a small factor in climbing. I really enjoy that about climbing and the freedom it gives to people. There is a route for everyone.

How did you start climbing?
My love of climbing started at a young age. I remember when I was a young boy my mom quit her job and my dad took extended time off from the university. We all hopped into out old VW Vanagon and hit the road for California. Along the way I was drawn to rocks everywhere. Maybe this has something to do with my dad being a geologist or maybe it’s something else. I just know I gave my parents plenty of heart attacks when they took their eyes off me and I was on top of some large boulder or starting up a vertical wall.

Favorite Climbing Discipline?
Currently I am really into bouldering but only because it’s difficult where I live to find a climbing partner. When I am with friends there is nothing more exhilarating that a hard sport climb or trad route up a crack formation 😉
