What are your climbing goals?
Short term: I have been trying to rap up some projects in Rifle for the summer. I have also been competing in ice speed climbing for three winters now and would like to move more into the pro mixed climbing realm. As for rock climbing goes, I am trying to branch into the 5-14 grade range which I hope to do next season after some training this winter in the gym. Oh, and get to the top of the MyClimb ice leaderboard! Look out Lou!

Most memorable climbing experience?
I have had lots of adventures over the years, but the one that stands out the most was last year at the Ouray Ice Festival. Most of you have seen the video of the penstock rupture on the news or youtube. My climbing partner and I happened to be climbing on the route under the break at the time it failed. I had just climbed out and was belaying my partner out when I heard a strange noise and the snow around my feet discolored. Then I noticed that my partner was climbing in what I would call a medium size creek. From that point is when all the videos online where taken. I will try to put the video I took of him up on my profile.

What do you like most about MyClimb?
I like the overall attitude of the people who are on the app, everyone is upbeat and having fun. I have to admit that I do like the competition of trying to stay on top of the leaderboards. I also appreciate the staff. I have contacted them several times with questions and have always had them answered in a very timely manner.

What do you enjoy most about climbing?
I love the self challenge I am battling my own mind and strength, and when I am on the wall there is no other thoughts in my head. I also love to community I make new friends from all over the world every year, and continue to run into the same people no matter where I travel to.

How did you start climbing?
I started climbing when I was 12. I learned to rappel at a summer camp and rappelled off everything I could tie a rope to. From there, the next step was climbing up. I bought a book from a local outdoor store and learned how to belay. My mom would drop me and my best friend off at the local crag where we top-roped everything we could get to the top of. From there, it has turned into what most people would call an unhealthy obsession.

Favorite Climbing Discipline?
This is a hard question. I love the physical challenge of sending a hard sport route but I would have to say climbing ice is my favorite. There is nothing more gratifying then coming back to the ground after a difficult ice lead.

Favorite Place to climb or destination?
Rifle is my number 1 spot for rock and ice, and it’s my local crag. There aren’t too many places in the world that have such a high concentration of amazing climbs for ice and rock.
